Measuring Guide for Jackets

If you are buying jacket online first time then please this measuring guide carefully. Perform all these steps according this measuring guide to avoid any error in the measurement.

It is necessary to measure the size before giving an order for jacket. It is better to measure the size rather than buying the over or under size jacket and returning it which may be costly and time consuming. So, measure your size first before giving an order to get your jacket in best fit size.

Following measuring guide will help you to measure your size of jacket properly.
There are five measurements which you have to follow to measure your size.

  1. Measure your chest size
  2. Measure your waist
  3. Measure your shoulder to shoulder
  4. Measure your sleeve length
  5. Measure your back length
  1. Measure your chest size
    Raise your hands up and wrap the tape around your chest at the widest point. You can take help of someone to do this. Down your hands and stand straight. Do not distended your chest with your breath. Just feel comfortable and measure your chest size. Take normal breath and stand straight. Measure loosely around the chest at underarm height while wearing a t-shirt.
  2. Measure your waist
    Now you have to measure your waist. Take a tape, whether in inches or centimeters and put at around your waist. Measure the waist with normal breath and note the measurement on the page. Loosely measure your true waist at your naval while dressed in a shirt to get best fit size.
  3. Shoulder to shoulder
    Put on a jacket of good fitting size. Take a tape and measure from shoulder joint till the end where other shoulder body ends.
  4. Measure your sleeve length
    Put on a good fitting suit jacket or any other similar jacket to get your size properly. Measure from the shoulder seam (the top of the sleeve where it meets the jacket body) to the cuff while keeping your arms at your side. If you do not have any jacket, measure from the shoulder joint, down your arm to where you’d like the sleeve to end.
    Mostly jacket sleeves end 1.5’’ to 2’’ above the base knuckle of the thumb, breaking at the wrist or slightly lower. Roughly 1/4’’ to 1/2’’ of the shirt sleeve should show below the cuff of the jacket.
  5. Measure your back length
    Ask someone to measure your back length while standing straight. Measure from the end of your collar till your waist point or as per your choice of jacket’s length.
